This work follows on from the “Human Pupa” project.
This painting reuses a 20 year-old canvas, incorporating the spare fabric, the “old skin”, from the rear. Below the multiple layers of the new painting, remains the original, for future art-eologists to discover.
This started as an oil painting and grew out of the surface to become relief.
It is an interpretation of the pupa after the inner being has broken out and escaped. The pupa enabled the metamorphosis of the person within, but is now shed.
