Initially inspired by the Horsemen of the Apocalypse, a close friend of mine and devotee of Lord Shiva explained to me about how Lord Shiva performed the Tandava dance, also known as the Dance of the Apocalypse. Part of this is the Samhara Tandava in which he dances so violently that he destroys the cosmos, prior to recreating it again.
Danse Macabre or Dance of Death is a late middle ages allegoric art form, best exemplified by Hans Holbein’s series of woodcuts.
In terms of a dance which embodies a memory of previous existence and retains a sense of rebellion and celebration, then the afro-brazilian martial art/dance called Capoeira is the best example.
Of these three dancers of the apocalypse, one suggests drone warfare, one suggesting famine, and one the death of the planet.
