Richard Dickson led this meeting of the Unit.
Line, Tone, Form and Perspective.
The aim of this session was to address these disciplines and executions using quotes from artists as a starting point.
“A drawing is simply a line going for a walk”, Paul Klee.
One line drawing without looking at the surface material. Gesture drawing – using one line in a very short pose to capture both energy and intention.

“Drawing is like making an expressive gesture with the advantages of permanence”, Henri Matisse.
Using powered charcoal for tone and then on a darkened sheet an erasure to create high lights the group was challenged ”to use tone and light to make decisions in drawing and encapsulate and define thinking”, Anita Taylor.

Thirdly the models figure was partly blocked to challenge perceptions of form.

The final session asked the group to draw from a variety of levels and positions so that the same pose was recorded and interpreted using both perspective and alternatives.
